Updates: Custom Doraemon Shoes

Hello!

There's no one who loves our customized shoes more than kids! All the shoes we have customized for kids so far have had cartoon characters. From Powerpuff girls to Spongebob Squarepants, we have done most of them all. The most recent addition to these customized cartoon shoes for children are Doraemon and Nobita!
Here are pictures of our work! See it, 'like' it and 'share' it!

Style alert: comfortable and sexy = shoes with dresses

Hola!

Don't know about you, but we have been bombarded with advertisements saying what a "historic blockbuster" Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif's Ek Tha Tiger is. We don't really want to say anything about the movie (*lips tightly sealed*), but we sure as hell loved Katrina Kaif's style in this one!

She wore shoes on pretty little dresses through most part of the movie in her role as 'Zoya'! This is pretty much the latest trend on the block and we had predicted the growth of this style through a comment on StyleKandy.com.

Katrina wore different shades of Converse throughout the movie and showed how equally pretty and cool shoes can look with dresses and skirt. Time to kick those heels away? Why did we love it so much?
One, we love anything do with shoes, especially converse! Second, they are oh-so-comfortable and add a little zing to the wearer's style character.

All in all, we are glad comfort is now starring in Bollywood fashion. Although the look would have been complete if those comfy, stylish shoes were customized by us, don't you think? *wink*

Would you/ do you wear converse with dresses, skirts or shorts?  Tell us!

Of turning three and giving thanks...

The brightest hello, yet, to you!

A lot has happened in a period  as little as 7 days! But I have no doubt that it was the best yet...

Shoe Stopper is a very dear venture to me and when it started out as nothing but a tiny project, I could have hardly imagined that it would have reached this height! I can tell you one thing, it sure as hell feels great!

Many asked me about why I didn't celebrate the previous 2 birthdays with the same fervor as this one. Truth be told, it was this year that I boldly realized that I, that we, have finished three years in the running. This realization made me want to do something very special, and thus I came up with all the ideas that I put to use last week.

For those of you who missed the fun, the official Shoe Stopper fan-page on Facebook was party to all these activities this past week:

  • A lavish birthday party with the children of Bal Anand, an NGO in Chembur.
  • Free giveaways (though, I prefer to use the term present/gift
  • A garage sale of Shoe Stopper products put on deliriously low rates
  • And the introduction of new customized products like the clutch bags
But all this is not the only cause of our joy; the response to all these activities by our fans and clients was brilliant! I was, and am, truly thankful to everyone who participated and wished us through the special three year anniversary week.

But a few special mentions are in order, I believe. I fervently thank:

Shachi
, for giving all the support that a start-up needs; and without whom Shoe Stopper would not have been called so.
My brother, Ishan, who kindly wore my initial designs everywhere he went.
My aunt, Ila, for just motivating me and reminding me how special the art is.
Girl pal, Shweta, for being the lucky recipient of many Shoe Stopper products and wearing them in style! ( :P )

And last, but definitely not the least:
My best friends forever, Shalmali and Gaurav, for supporting me all through the  way;
And my parents, to whom I am forever grateful for giving me the freedom to pursue my passion for art, whenever and whichever way I wanted to.
As for Shoe Stopper is concerned, I hope there is only improvement in my art and lots of joy received by the ones who wear it.

The paint and passion, as alive as ever...

Hello everyone!

Yesterday, while I was looking for shoes to wear for the Mumbai marathon (yes, I went!), I found my own first customized Shoe Stopper pair. When I had started out Shoe Stopper in 2009, I wanted to paint and practice as much as I could; and there, I spotted my year old pale green converse to transform into some new piece of coolness.

Like I said, they were a year old pair of shoes in 2009, so clearly they were sort of worn out already; but that was part of the challenge for me. Could I really transform an old pair of shoes to look like a new one? Only one way to find out...

Thus, I got down to some serious business. First I had to make sure the shoes were sparkly clean. (I do have an obsessive compulsive disorder about hygiene and cleanliness. *hides face*)

I was sure I wanted to paint something with The Simpsons on the shoes considering I had been watching a lot of the sitcom during that period and I was nearly obsessed. But I knew they wouldn't look as great on a military green pair of converse. So I finally settled on the bright yet dark shade of purple to paint over the green. And voila; there I was, three hours later, with a new pair of shoes! :D

The shoes are now three and a half years old, but they're still my favorite pair. Simple, purple, with Bart and Lisa... (enters happy place) Worn out, yet they remind me of what I love doing.

My shoes were of this shade before I painted  them...
And a lot dirtier... :P
(That's a Google image)
This is how my pair of shoes look now, after three and a half years,
and after a lot of washing and scrubbing... Not bad, eh? :D
